Stephanie Schneiderman | Cry With Me Official Video
Schneiderman wrote, produced, and performed her new single “Cry With Me” as a bold invitation to stay tender and open during harsh, divisive times. It's a requisition for shared grief and to seek out each other's humanity as we navigate what's happening in the world around us.
Shot at the vast and gritty decommissioned Zidell Shipyards, the video features five female dancers, spanning seven decades of life, who beautifully morph into various stages of grief through dance.
Produced and crafted with a diverse crew and an all female cast, the video was directed/edited/created by powerhouse Alicia J. Rose - known for her music video work with First Aid Kit, Cake, Laura Gibson and many others) known for her music video work with First Aid Kit, Cake, Laura Gibson and many others. She recently won both the Narrative Audience Award at the 2021 Ashland Independent Film Festival and the Best New Directors Award at the 2021 Port Townsend Film Festival with her feature directorial debut “A Kaddish for Bernie Madoff.” The season finale of her 2017 web series “The Benefits of Gusbandry” was hailed as a “delirious masterpiece” by The New York Times.
The song features a collective of world-renowned musicians including Jenny Conlee (The Decemberists, accordion), Ji Tanzer (Blue Cranes, drums), Tony Furtado (banjo and baritone ukulele) and Keith Brush (Blue Cranes, upright bass), — creating a compelling sonic atmosphere rife with rage, hope, and uncertainty. "Cry With Me" was written, produced and recorded in Portland, Oregon at Bocce Recording Studios and Rye Room. Engineered by Adam Selzer, mixed by Matt Greco and mastered by Adam Gonzales, the new single and video will be out on all platforms July 18th, 2024.
